Winnowing is the act of de-shelling the cacao bean. In this workshop, I will teach how to roast your own cacao beans and we will all together de-shell our own beans. This process, for myself, is super meditative and one of my favorite parts of making chocolate. Eating warm cacao beans is an experience unlike any other, and the flavor with a delicious red wine (provided by Two Lions Winery in Palm Harbor) is the BEST!
You will also go home with your own cacao nibs to use for snacking, baking, or topping treats!
*Please bring your own nutcracker. (Trust me with my experience on this one.)
