We are so happy to have this beautiful wall hanging for sale from our dear friend Concepcion Poou Coy Tharin, Fiber Artist & Master Weaver. Concep is from the village of Samac, Alta Verapaz, Guetemala.

Concepcion, or Concep for short, is a Q'equchi' Mayan woman. Taught by her mother to weave at age eight, she has mastered an intricate gauze-like weave called pikb'il. Weaving is one of the few sources of income for the women of her village, though each blouse takes a month to weave. Concep sold her weavings to fund her own education. Now in Florida, she brings this ancient Mayan tradition to life for people in the United States by demonstrating and teaching others to weave. She continues to use traditional designs to preserve and honor her ancestors.
